How does spirituality influence health and wellbeing? This has been a question of interest to me for over 30 years. After teaching psychiatric mental health nursing at the undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate levels, I began a second career in research to study the effects of the Mantram Repetition Program (MRP) -- repeating a mantram, slowing down, and one-pointed attention -- on stress, quality of life, and spiritual well-being.
I learned about mantram repetition from a spiritual teacher, Sri Eknath Easwaran, who founded the Blue Mountain Center of Meditation in Tomales, CA. My goal is to deliver mantram repetition to as many people as possible! It is a “spiritual life-line” that research has shown reduces psychological distress, improves health and wellbeing and helps us slow down and focus attention to transform consciousness.
